Should I get a soft or hard beaded rope?

The only noticeable difference apart from the look of the two ropes and the price difference, is that the soft beads absorb almost all of the bounce and sound that the hard beads make. This also helps remove any distractions that may be caused by the hard beads for the athlete. Both ropes are still a great tool to build strength and fitness as well as learning how to skip.

What is the difference between a teflon wire and stainless steel wire rope?

The stainless steel wire is roughly 0.4mm thicker. Making the overall weight of the rope heavier. Due to the weight of the wire rope, it then makes it easier for the skipper to control. That’s generally why skippers start out with it, so they can really focus on their technique and get used to speed.

However there comes a stage where skippers need to make the move from stainless steel wire to teflon coated wire. The reason normally being that they have perfected their technique and are at a stage where the weight of the wire rope is actually holding them back from going any faster. In this case it would be time to move to the Teflon Wire Rope
